Description
It seemed this gator was playing “peek-a-boo” with me, or more accurately, I was playing “peek-a-boo” with him. Actually, it just had his head buried in the grass, but he did have one eye on me, and it was aware of my being there. It’s difficult to determine size by this image, but this was a pretty large gator, approximately 12-13 feet. I’ve been following this fella for about five or six years now; he seems to stay in this general area, and I usually see him out at least two or three times a year, whenever I’m near this spot. After one hurricane several years back (I forget which one) I didn’t see him for well over a year because his favorite mudbank had washed away, but I was delighted when I did come across him one day in a different area not very far from his old spot. It was a happy reunion for me, although I doubt he was as thrilled as I.
