Description
Late afternoon on the river brings out such deep colors and deep shadows. It is a peaceful time as the river begins to transition from daytime animals and activities to night dwelling creatures. Crickets and frogs wake up and erupt with their beautiful song, birds find their roosting spots, and darkness slowly overcomes the scene. Being on the river at night is such a soulful experience, especially when you are fortunate enough to have owls piping up with their wonderful call. Sadly, it is disappearing all too fast under the pressure of over-population and over-development. The frog population has fallen significantly, and lightning bugs do not seem as prevalent as they used to be, but it is still such a special experience. This gorgeous scene was captured on the Wakulla River.
